Enyimba lose chance to win 1.5m Euro

Caf Champions League

Nigerian champions, Enyimba, have lost the chance to contest for the 1.5million Euro Caf Champions League following their elimination on Sunday, by Moroccan side, Wydad Athletic Club.

The Moroccans reached their first-ever Caf Champions League final at the expense of two-time champions Enyimba on a 1-0 on aggregate.

Enyimba lost the first leg semifinal by a lone goal a fortnight ago before playing a goalless draw in front of their fans on match day.

The Nigerians were largely unco-ordinated in the first half as Wydad enjoyed their road trip.

Wydad won the former Africa Champions Club Cup in 1992.

The winners of this competition will pocket a prize money of €1.5 million and also represent the continent at the Fifa Club World Cup in Japan from December 8.

Fifa World Club Cup:

The club has also crashed out in the race for the Fifa World Club Cup, where it could have generated more income.

Winners received $5 million

Second-placed team $4 million

Third-placed team $2.5 million

Fourth-placed team $2 million

Fifth-placed team $1.5 million

Sixth-placed team $1 million

Seventh-placed team received $500,000.
